If you’re injured or experiencing pain, discomfort, or limited movement with your upper limbs, anywhere from your fingers to your shoulders, you’ve come to the right place.

WHAT ARE THE COMMON HAND CONDITIONS?

Don’t be misled; Hand Therapy encompasses more than just your hands. It addresses the entire arm (or upper extremity), stretching from your shoulders down to your fingertips.

Hand Therapy is a specialised field that evaluates, diagnoses, treats, and rehabilitates your shoulder, elbow, wrist, or hand (including fingers and thumbs) following an injury, surgery, or medical diagnosis, aiding you in regaining optimal movement.

A Hand Therapist or Hand Therapy Practitioner holds a degree in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy, is registered with the Australian Hand Therapy Association, and has undergone additional on-the-job training focusing solely on the upper extremity. They work in collaboration with other professionals, including hand surgeons, general practitioners, and rehabilitation consultants, to provide you with the highest quality care.

At The Hands Physio, our Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists have completed postgraduate courses and practical training to ensure they are experts in providing comprehensive care for the entire arm, from shoulder to fingertip.

SYMPTOMS OF COMMON HAND CONDITIONS

Are you experiencing pain in your upper extremities? Do minor movements cause discomfort, or does it become unbearable when trying to do everyday tasks? If so, you may be dealing with a hand injury. Upper extremity injuries can vary greatly, from wrist fractures and rotator cuff tears to nerve damage caused by trauma. To diagnose and treat the issue appropriately, understanding the symptoms of common hand injuries is essential.

It is important to seek medical attention if you have any of the common hand injuries. Prompt evaluation and treatment can help to prevent complications and promote healing.
